Application Procedure Steps
Below are the main steps in the application and allocation processes and will give you an overview of the process from filling in your form to the final allocation of college places.
Step 1: Check your eligibility.
You can check your eligibility here. If you have concerns or are unsure about your eligibility, contact us at info@na.uwc.org
Step 2: Talk to your parents.
We can only accept applications that are supported by your parents or guardians. Tell them about the UWC movement and show them this website so that they can support you throughout the process.
Step 3: Download and complete the supporting documents available here. Email completed documents to info@na.uwc.org if you cannot upload them on online application platform.
Step 4: Choose your References
Two references are required, an academic reference and a community reference. The academic reference should be completed by a teacher, and the community reference should be completed by someone who has worked with you in a non-academic setting (such as a supervisor in extracurricular activities, or someone you have volunteered for). Both should be able to speak of your abilities and interests. The references are an important part of the application process.
Step 5: Fill in and Submit your Application Form
The form consists of a few short essay questions and some personal information. Ensure you allocate at least two (2) hours to complete the application. Be honest—the application should reflect who you truly are.
All application forms are carefully read by a team of trained reviewers—they are all familiar with the UWC movement and are looking for candidates with the potential to thrive in the unique environment of a United World College. Each application form is read by at least two reviewers, and between them, they draw up a short list of candidates to interview.
Please do note that because of the high quality of applications we receive, many strong applications will not be short-listed.
The Online Application Platform can be found here!
If you are experiencing problems with the online application, follow the steps here. Email completed questions and needed documents to info@na.uwc.org
Step 6: The Online Selection Day
If your application form is successful, you will be invited for a selection day. This year the entire selection day will likely take place online.
During the assessment, you will be asked to participate in a number of different activities; some will be individual tasks and some will be done in a group with other candidates.
Assessment days will be held within 2 weeks after the application closes. You must be able to attend the online assessment.
Step 7: Nomination process
Successful candidates are nominated to respective colleges/schools. Only once the school has accepted the nomination will the successful student receive a formal offer from the college/school.
